For Suzane

GCTG5Y

Found 10/20/08

Cache is in an army surplus "medical kit insert." It's army green, plastic and about the size of a thick paperback book. Waterproofness was tested under the kitchen faucet: although it passed, a bungee cord was wrapped around it for more security.
Visit Suzanne while you are there....
Update (09/20/06): Cache has been replaced by something more waterproof, I hope. It's a small, flat, camo'd Tupperware container (the hot dog keeper, for those of you fluent in Tupperware).

Another lunch hour find with PJ. After finding this one we had a little picnic. There was a tag along on the cache itself, the pic is blurry but you can see the snail. :)

Time Out

GC194QP

Found 10/19/2008

Congratulations to the fox n the hound for FTF!!!

Take a break at his area while traveling through the ONF. Another cache for the numbers. You are looking for an ammo can filled with usual goodies.

We went looking for this one specifically to drop the Wayward Stitch travel bug. As usual, I got us to the correct general area but Hubby actually made the find. Oh well, that's what team work is all about :)

Can you see the sign?

GC1ERC5

found 10/18/2008

*This cache has been archived

This is a geocache NANO Cache container. Easy spot to locate but challenge to find. Use your geo senses on this one. Please put log roll back as found. GOOD LUCK and happy hunting!

Hint - {Stop}

This one was fun!! We found it but didn't sign the log because we didn't think we could get it wound back tight enough to put in the micro. Hubby was actually the one who found it. I was looking on the ground right around the stop sign at the coordinates but he found it actually ON the sign!!! This was our first nano find and I was amazed at how small a magnetic cache could be.

Mother Load part 1

GC1G003

Found 10-18-08

THIS IS NOT Your regular multicache! This one is SOOOOOO worth the adventure. We had such a good time placing the MOTHER LOAD. It took us forever just to get it ready. The end result is BIG GIFTS not small trading items. But I still placed some in there. I Hope you all have fun finding but remember I made these somewhat difficult to find! You know how to get in touch if you need additional help finding. Good Luck!

Hint - Camo is well done

I used to work at the business this cache leans against! Amazing! Unfortunately I wasn't able to locate part 2. I took Hubby with me but muggles made it impossible. Oh well, maybe someday!

Wayward Stitch Bug - v2

TB120MG

Owner: watts_txReleased: Wednesday, July 12, 2006Origin: Texas, United StatesUse TB120MG to reference this item.

Current GOAL: Stitch is hot on the trail of his lost cousins. He has made it his purpose to travel to caches in each of the fifty states in an attempt to give everyone he meets a purpose in life beyond mindless destruction. After he has completed his tour of the U.S., he wishes to travel abroad to look for more wayward experiments. Please help him to document his travels with a photo of him and something from your state (or state of mind).

About this item: The Wayward Stitch travel bug stands a towering 3 inches tall but that doesn't stop him from crawling in many of the smaller cache containers. If you have never come across this little blue fury....ask a small child to describe him to you. Update: Wayward Stitch Bug has had a Glitch!!! Semper Questio found and returned the TB dog tag and Stitch was nowhere to be found. Dr. Jumba Jookiba helped us clone Stitch and we released him once again with his original TB tag. Please help him complete his mission.

I placed him in a cache called "Time Out" (which you'll read about in the future) on Sunday, October 19, 2008. It moved him a little further north in the hopes of him getting to Georgia.

Greek Acres Themed Cache

GC1DYJZ

Found 10/16/2008

*This cache has been archived

This is an easy park and grab cache to find, however the difficulty rating I bumped up a half point only because of the thorns. Please park opposite from the dirt road on the pine tree side of the paved road. Cache is placed with permission of property owner and is located outside of gated property. NO NEED TO GO INSIDE OF FENCE!

The "Greek Acres" Themed Cache is so called because of the location. These 5 acres belong to my mother and aunt who both were born in Greece and now reside here. They call this little piece of paradise "Greek Acres" with all of their many animals. On the farm are peacocks, doves, pigeons, ducks, geese, chickens, sheep, cats, and dogs. To start the cache, we've included all kinds of farm and Greek related items. Please trade ONLY farm or Greek related items as well. I have also launched the "Papau (Greek for Grandpa) Skordas" Traveler TB whose mission is to travel to Greece. The cache container is a medium sized ammo box with room for swag.

Please respect my mothers property so we may continue to enjoy this cache placement. Daytime caching is prefered, however nightime caching is allowed. Also, this area may be deceiving concerning muggles. While very rural, you may encounter more vehicles from the dirt road than the paved road. Best to retrieve cache box and return to car, take care of caching business, then return cache to hiding spot.

The FTF will be mailed a gift certificate to a Greek restaurant located in either Eustis, Leesburg, or the Orlando area. Congrats to "Jack & Ret The Challengers" as the FTF!! (Jack and Ret The Challengers were FTF)

Hint - Watch out for the thorns!

I found this one on my way home from work and looked for it specifically to get the "Wayward Stitch Bug" Found it no problem. I think I picked up this coin here.

I also picked up the Wayward Stitch travel bug, read about it in the next entry.

Travel Bug - Tombstone Sheriff Law Badge

TB2AH2R

Found in Garden Secret Cache found under the name ScarletPajamas (me & PJ)

Owner: agents0x0Released: Sunday, July 27, 2008Origin: Colorado, United States

Current GOAL: this TB's mission is to go to states across the US and get photos with/and/or/in front of new and old law enforcement buildings or town halls. Esp like the old time buildings. TB comes from the rustic Western Colorado area and originally started in Silverton Colorado. The old buildings/mine towns are intriguing. Please help this little badge along to other areas.

About this item: older Tombstone Sheriff silver law badge (about 2" in size) dull heavy pewter looking badge, small star with slender circle around it.

PJ dropped it in St Augustine, here's her log entry (sorry it's in all caps, that's the way we do things at work).

Picked up the bug today, it's our first. We'll take a few pics as asked then move it along.
11-29-2008.....I FINALLY MADE IT UP TO ST AUGUSTINE SO WE COULD TAKE PHOTOS IN FRONT OF THE OLD JAIL.....ST AUGUSTINE IS THE OLDEST CONTINUOUSLY OCCUPIED CITY IN THE UNITED STATES.IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY SINCE LIKE 1565 ?....NOT SURE ON THE DATE...ANYWAY BEFORE I COULD LOG THE DROP OFF ...THE NEXT GUY DID :)...WE DROPPED IT IN STAR STRUCK....BUT WAS JUST ABLE TO GET TO A COMPUTER TO LOG IT....SORRY....GOT A FEW MORE PHOTOS TO COME.....FROM THE OLD COURTHOUSE IN LAKE COUNTY FLORIDA WHERE WE FOUND IT....SP

This is the owner's picture of the bug.

These are the ones we took at our local court house.

Garden Secret

GCM3AR

Found 10-16-08 with PJ

Near a paved walking path in the shaded area of a public garden.
The cache is located in the Discovery Gardens of The Lake County Horticultural Learning Center. There is no admission charge to enter the gardens. The Gardens are open from 9A to 4P Monday through Friday. The cache is in a 6"x6"x2" transparent "Gladware" box containing, in addition to a logbook, pencils and information sheet, various "goodies".

Found on lunch with PJ at a nearby garden. I found it! We used PJ's GPS. One of the ladies that worked there was watching us through the plants, knowing what we were doing even though we thought we were being sneaky. She ended up giving us a hint :) We also found our first Travel Bug here! It was titled "Tombstone Sheriff Law Badge" check out the next entry for more information specifically about it.

Sk8 or die

GC1D70F

Found 10-16-08 at lunch with PJ

Cool location, thought it needed a cache. Please watch out for muggles, don't let them see you grab the cache! Don't forget your skateboard or blades if you are one of them.Park hours are from 9AM - 10PM

This was my first encounter with a LPC (lamp post cache) and the GPS was jumping all over so we felt like we were on a wild goose chase. Then a maintenance guy shows up asking questions. He left briefly, we found it, signed the log and replaced it. As we were walking back to the car he came back and started watching us!!! But, since there have been several finds since ours I guess he didn't muggle it.

Speed Trap

GCYR5C

Found 10-15-08

The stretch of road where this cache is placed is a favorite hangout for the Eustis Police Department to nab people not paying attention to the posted 30 MPH speed limit. We live near here and I still forget from time to time. Fortunately I have not had to be reminded by one of the nice officers, but it seems like 30 is awfully slow! Enjoy the cache and WATCH YOUR SPEED!!!

This one I found based on the satellite map and boy was it tricky!!! Just a log, not even in a "container" per se. Found by sheer luck, I thought the baggie the log was in was a spider web until closer inspection. All in all, I loved it!

Because of Winn Dixie

GC1CC9v

Found 10-15-08

Micro, BYOP. Have Fun!

Hint = Gutter is a good place to start.

I honestly can't remember the details of this find. I'm not sure if I had my GPS yet or if PJ gave me a round about idea, or if I just figured it out from the satellite maps. I signed the log and that's all that was there so TNLN. Based on finds after this, I must say I think I based it on the map etc.

Kilowatts! on the billboard

GC1DYRX

Found 10/15/08

This in the fourth in the Kilowatts! series. A quick P&G on 441.

Another find on the way home from work, still no GPS. Familiarity with the area and reading the prior log entries helped a lot. Signed log, that's all was there.

Cop Cache

GC1F0KG

Found October 15, 2008

Magnetic
Its outside of the complex
Dont get Muggled

Just a log, found it on my way home from work, not much of a challenge since I had been told almost exactly where it was.

A Rif Raf Cache

GC1F53C

Found 10/15/08 w/ LP&J

Pretty easy terrain. I think it should be wheelchair accessible. Just a tiny bit of grass to go over.
Small green container with a clear lid. A rif-raf of items inside.

Hint - Fence

This one was a challenge between co-workers. My other two geo-caching co-workers had a real gps but my Hubby and I were determined to find it using the gps in the car (which doesn't give as many decimals and isn't designed for this). So we were on the opposite side of the building from them and none of us found it. So I went back with PJ (LPajamas&J) and we found it! As I recall I am the one who found it, but either way YAY teamwork!!

And this is the frog I took from it...

Nov 16, 2008 - Archived per request of Lake County Parks and Trails

My first lunch cache with my co-worker (The Pajamas portion of LizardPajamas & Joe, hereby referred to as PJ). We found this one using her GPS, appearantly she had already been to this one with my other co-worker but they couldn't find it. I was the one who spotted it!!! I believe this is the SWAG I picked up there, but I can't be sure.

Little Man on the Boat

GC1ERCO

Found 10/14/2008 by myself, after work

VERY easy Park and grab! Please place where you found it! Happy Hunting.

Another find without GPS help. Being familiar with the area helps a lot. This was my first SWAG exchange, I don't remember what I put in but this is what I took...

Turns out it was put there by one of my co-workers.

Loose Caboose Gets Smart

GCQ6A5

Found 10/13/08 by the whole family

This is following the "Loose Caboose" theme of railroad cars that have been put to pasture, but are still enjoyed by all.

This caboose started work bringing up the rear for the Atlantic Coast Line. In 1967, Atlantic Coast Lines merged with Seaboard Airline to form "Seaboard Coast Line". The infamous caboose jumped track from ACL to SCL sometime soon after. The SCL railway was in business until 1980. Built in 1915, the final resting spot of this great car is the Umatilla Library, formerly used as a depot for the Atlantic Coast Line.

This was our very first find, we used the description, hint, and our geo-senses to find it since we didn't have a GPS yet. It was at this cache that my husband came up with our "team" name of AScarlettRose (which comes from all our middle names). He was actually the one who found it because I refused to put my hands where I can't see, I'm much better about this than I once was, but it still gives me the creeps. We also found it at night, in the dark because that seemed to be the only time it wasn't swarming with muggles. We signed the log and since that's all it was we din't take or leave anything.

Getting up to date

So far I have found 31 geocaches and placed 1. Later I will list them all in order, post any pictures, and leave any travel bug info I can still find.
